The Tuesday evening commute was a crawl for many in the area after a day filled with showers, heavy rain and flooding.
Stretches of four of the most traveled parkways in the area were closed late Tuesday afternoon due to flooding and a crash on northbound I-684 blocked two lanes for about an hour.
The I-684 crash was northbound at Route 35 (Exit 6) in Katonah with stop-and-go delays to Route 172 (Exit 4) through the late afternoon.
The Taconic State Parkway is closed southbound in Mount Pleasant between Commerce Street and Stevens Avenue due to flooding.
The Saw Mill River Parkway is closed southbound in Pleasantville between Manville Road (Exit 29) and Marble Avenue (Exit 27).
The Hutchinson River Parkway is closed both ways at East Third Street in Mount Vernon.
The Bronx River Parkway is closed both ways between the County Center and the Cross County Parkway a short time later.
But wait, there's more.
A crash 4:30 p.m. on eastbound I-287 causing delays at Exit 6 (Route 22) with backups to the Sprain Brook Parkway.
